The Club at The Saujana

The Heart of Quiet Luxury

TCaTS01

Many hotels and resorts in the city have called themselves “the perfect getaway”, promising exclusivity, luxury and comfort in thoughtfully designed private residences. But it is a little-known gem, tucked away in a quiet corner in Saujana surrounded by foliage and away from city noise, traffic and prying eyes, that seems to capture the heart of many a visitor who requires the convenience and services of a modern, city hotel as well as the calm, rejuvenating environment of a private retreat.

If you and your honey need a place to disappear to and be pampered without being too far from the city, boutique hotel The Club at The Saujana is an ideal choice.

From the get go, you can tell how private The Club really is – the only thing that gives away its existence is its tasteful, discreet signage at the entrance to its grounds; The Club at Saujana is not visually accessible from the outside. Its low-rise complex is modest-looking, but it is this very quality that makes this place even more special. A homely haven if you will, that ensures you are well taken care of in every respect.

Water Feature - TCaTS BAG_2784 - Inner Courtyard

As you step inside into a small yet inviting lobby, you feel a sense of tranquillity and intimacy that resonates from its well-appointed interior of wood and stone. The warm glow of candles and dim lighting against its creamy walls, Burmese teak, understated yet fine furnishings and stylish neutral colours set the tone for your stay here.

Genuine smiles greet you each time, followed by sincere questions in friendly, hushed tones on how your utter comfort may be fulfilled. Your buffet breakfast is cooked to order for a fresh, hot meal to start your day. At the pool, ice-cold water, cold towels, a handheld fan and a bottle of refreshing facial mist (green tea and peppermint) on personal trays are brought to you as you enjoy the outdoors. If you ended up in a corner of the pool far away from your towel, another one is thoughtfully brought to you before you realized you needed one.

TCaTS02You might feel that you couldn’t possibly expect more from this first-rate pool service, but The Club continues to impress. On hot, sunny days, you will never have to worry about burning the soles of your feet as you walk around the pool because the floor tiles remain cool under the blazing sun!

Guests at The Club may also utilize outdoor facilities at the adjoining Saujana Golf and Country Club as well as The Saujana Hotel, such as its two pools, sauna, tennis and squash courts, fitness centre and seven restaurants. Its vast green grounds complete with a lake will certainly appeal to those who enjoy leisurely, romantic strolls in the evening.

If you wanted to spend the day holed up together in your elegantly lavish room or suite, a fully-stocked minibar with a variety of cold beverages, chocolates, snacks, a Nespresso machine and coffee, and several types of tea keeps hunger pangs at bay, at no charge!

For the ultimate experience in relaxation, The Spa offers a range of Asian treatments and massages, and for the shopaholic, you are just a free shuttle ride away from Pavilion Kuala Lumpur where your room key card gets you special discounts at selected high-end boutiques. High-speed wireless broadband and laundry service are also complimentary, which emphasizes The Club’s attention to detail.

So, whether you just need a short getaway or a honeymoon escape in a lush setting with all the perks of luxury hospitality, The Club at The Saujana simply is the perfect place.

Elvira & Kevin

The love story: It was love at first sight for me when we saw each other for a work related meeting but Elvira took some time to convince. I gave her my mobile number but she only offered her office number. Later, she called me regarding work and I mustered enough courage to ask her out. We continued dating for two years before I proposed.
The proposal: Actually Elvira wanted to propose to me first! She planned it by booking a beautifully decorated room with red roses and scented candles at Hilton KL. But I got wind of her plans and quickly bought the diamond ring, and before she could do anything, got down on my knees and asked her to marry me. She was so stunned that she totally forgot what she was supposed to do! Once she caught her breath, it was her turn to propose to me.

The wedding theme: Our dinner reception theme was ‘Fairytale Wedding’ and Elvira had a blast doing up the place in pink and white. We had candelabras with flowers at the foyer and a huge floral arch at the entrance. We draped the walls white and laid out white carpets and hung loads of lighted floral balls and scallops from the ceiling. The backdrop was a huge castle and we custom built two grand staircases for us to enter. The garden party had a green and white theme with lots of flowers and, even had a two projection screens for our guests to watch the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics.

The venue: Church ceremony was held at the Assumption Church in PJ, while the tea ceremony, garden party and dinner reception were held at Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel.
The rings: Platinum rings from Diamonds & Platinum.
The wedding dresses: all by Pretty In White. Elvira was dressed in a tube gown with lots of lace, beads and crystals embellishment for the church ceremony, a kua for the tea ceremony, a halter-neck dress with green beads, lace and crystals for the garden party and, a pink gown for the dinner reception.
The groom’s suit: Kevin wore a suit with red cravat and vest for the church ceremony, a Chinese man’s kua for the tea ceremony, suit with cravat and vest for the garden party and a tuxedo for the dinner reception.
Moments to treasure: It has to be the point we finally exchanged our sacred vows. I was so nervous and sweating while Elvira later told me she felt her hair stand on its end. It was a magical moment that changed our whole life.

Champagne Charm

The distinctive glow of the colour of champagne adds warmth to your wedding day with this theme. White may be the essence of this setting, but the little hint of gold and green gives character to the serene colour.

The lighting in this wedding design creates a luxurious mood and tone that echoes your ardent commitment to each other. Masses of white roses lend a sweet and romantic note to the whole event. All the stationery and favours are piped with light green hues, setting the tone and mood of all bright, new things to come in the couple’s lives together.

Soft, sweet lace covering the backs of the chairs adds a touch of charm while swags of little green berries give quirky character to an otherwise simple touch that augments the cosiness of the ambience.
Concept & Colour: A muted take on luxury where the shimmering champagne hues are made light with a gentle shade of green in a truly white setting. Endless use of roses speaks of the purity of a romantic wedding day. The ambience is warmed up by yellow lighting to enhance the glow of the champagne-coloured hint in the décor.

Ingredients for this theme:

Floral Design & Décor by Ever After and Creativelines
Stationery, Favours & Photography by Ever After
Venue by Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur – the Millennium Ballroom

Editor says:
Working with gold is difficult but the best alternative is the colour of champagne. It is light enough to blend with most colours, but best when put to work with whites and warm tones. Go for one bright colour of your preference in the mix to express your personal style in the whole set-up.

Sophia & Frank

The wedding theme: Classic beauty with white and hints of pink. Both of us had always loved all things classic. It symbolises our love for each other. Henceforth, we combined this classic theme with a touch of contemporary to represent who and what we are.

Wedding planning: The entire planning involved both of us, our families and the wedding planner. Our main objective of having the reception was so that we could gather all our loved ones to share the love and joy at our union.

The venue: Le Marquee, Palace of The Golden Horses, Kuala Lumpur. The main reception was held in Malaysia, but we also had another one in Beijing.

Advice for couples planning their wedding: Balance the customs and traditions with good lashings of fun and humour. You can listen to advice but you don’t have to take everything wholesale. Go with your gut feelings and personal preferences. It is your special day and you should decide what you want at your reception, as there are no real hard and fast rules on how you should host the wedding or the reception.

Moments to treasure: We treasure every moment of the day!

Vivienne & Richard

The love story: Richard and Vivienne crossed paths when he was boarding a flight to Perth from Singapore. It was love at first sight for Richard. The bumped into each other again the next day in Perth. Fate kept bringing them together again and again. Richard lived in Houston, Texas and Vivienne was employed as a stewardess. She had to travel extensively and Richard had to work out a schedule to court her. Eventually, when Richard’s company set up office in Singapore, he finally was able to be close to her. On 15 July, 2005, Richard asked Vivienne to be his girlfriend.

The proposal: For my birthday in 2007, I asked Viv if we could go to Hong Kong Disneyland and I planned to propose to her after the fireworks show. On my birthday I wanted to give the best gift to myself and that would be asking Vivienne to be my wife. A soon as the fireworks show was over, I explained how much Hong Kong meant to me and how special it was for us to be at Disneyland together. I then asked her to marry me, and unfortunately, had the engagement ring box upside down. In the dark, she couldn’t see the ring and thought I was just joking. I then turned the box right side up and told her I was serious. Luckily, she said ‘Yes’.

The wedding theme: The tea ceremony theme was oriental with the bold colour of red. This was to reflect Viv’s ancestry and for me to experience a traditional Chinese wedding. I came on a trishaw to pick up my bride. For the wedding reception, Viv incorporated many travel themes because we both had travelled extensively. We wanted to
keep the travel theme as romantic as how our love story had started.

The venue: Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa
The rings: Brilliant Rose Solitaire diamond from Soo Kee Jewelry for the bride and Eternity diamond band from Fairy’s Inc, Singapore. The groom’s ring is from The Carat Club.
The wedding gowns: Renee L for wedding gown & MTM kua from The Red Wedding (Singapore).
The groom’s suit: Raffles Tailor Suit (Singapore).
Moments to treasure: Viv says it was the point of walking down the aisle. All the stress of the planning didn’t matter anymore when she walked towards the man who was going to be her partner for life. It was an emotional moment when she saw me standing there, waiting for her.
Dream Team: I Do Weddings

Angela & Andrew

The love story: Andrew and I met during high school and we knew each other for about 12 years prior to our marriage. We were already good friends during school and even studied in the same university. It was during our tertiary education that we discovered our love for each other. We shared many things together; similar interests and aspirations and even the same friends.

The proposal: Andrew popped the question while we were having dinner at the Four Seasons Langkawi. It was one of the sweetest moments and captured the true essence of this wonderful man whom I have known for over 12 years. Someone even commented that it was typical of Andrew – a little clumsy but really sweet and endearing.

The wedding theme: We opted for a green and white colour scheme for our Langkawi wedding that drew its inspiration from the natural setting. In KL, for the dinner banquet, white still dominated but with a touch of matte gold.

The venue: Wedding ceremony at the Four Seasons Langkawi and a banquet at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur.

The rings: Both rings are from Tiffany & Co.

The wedding gown: Vera Wang gown for the wedding ceremony and a Reem Acra dress at the banquet.

The groom’s suit: Custom-tailored suit for the wedding and an Emporio Armani suit for the dinner banquet.

Moments to treasure: I can still picture our wedding when we exchanged vows in the beautifully manicured lawns of the Four Seasons Langkawi with streamers blowing in the sea breeze. It was truly magical to also have my family and my best friends to share our joy. In KL, I though my evening gown simply looked stunning and I am sure Andrew agrees too!

Chloe & Ricky

The love story: We were both doing our MBA at the Chicago Graduate School of Business in 2004. He was a very sweet guy and just as he was about to leave for Hong Kong, he expressed his feelings for me. But I wasn’t ready yet. So Ricky used to send me little short stories about a guy and a girl that represented us both. Whenever he sensed I was sad, he’d leave little gifts at the reception area of my dorm. These thoughtful actions won me over and finally at Christmas 2004, we became a couple when he came all the way to Chicago from KL.
The proposal: Ricky popped the question in April 2007 at the Inter Continental Hotel that overlooks the Hong Kong Harbour. He brought a bouquet of flowers, a gorgeous D-coloured, slightly over a carat diamond, got down on his knees and asked me to be his wife. I was speechless and tears started streaming down my cheeks. I wasn’t expecting it all!
The wedding theme: I love flowers and I wanted loads of them! We had the florist decorate the ballroom with beautiful arrangements including two tall flower stands at the entrance. The KL event had a red theme going as red represented our love. Our invitation cards were specially made in Hong Kong, while a 5-piece jazz band entertained the guests. In Hong Kong, the red theme continued with touches of pastels as the venue was furnished with timber furniture. The pastels balanced the colour scheme. I personally hand-made 20 block candles to be placed at the cocktail areas.
The venue: Shangri-la Kuala Lumpur and Island Shangri-la Hong Kong.
The rings: TSL Atelier (wedding bands) and a hand picked diamond ring.
The wedding gown: all from My Dream Wedding. At the KL reception, I wore a stunning red qua with dragon / phoenix motifs and matching shoes. I next changed into a white, lacy and beaded wedding gown with a long train. The dramatic gown was the perfect outfit that suited the long walk into the ballroom. The pure white of the dress was furthered enhanced with a bouquet of white flowers in my hands. I also wore three additional evening gowns. In Hong Kong, I chose a bareback, spaghetti strap wedding gown and three evening gowns as well.
The groom’s suit: Custom-made white tuxedo for the KL event and a black tuxedo in Hong Kong.

Moments to treasure: There are simply too many moments but we both agree the planning process was memorable with Ricky being most supportive and accommodating. Also, on the wedding day, the wedding march and later, our dance together were beautiful moments to be treasured forever.

Signature Photographers

The Signature Photographers

10th August 2008, Kuala Lumpur – Informative, breathtaking and exceptional were some of the words used by couples to describe the “Great Photo, Great Eyes” Workshop that was conducted by the Signature Photographers recently.

Participants browsing through the works and anxiously awaiting the start of the workshop

Held in Hotel Imperial, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, the event lasted approximately 3 hours and saw all 7 of the Signature Photographers covering very informative topics that ranged from the benefits of engaging a professional photographer, to searching and selecting the preferred photographer all the way to how to be creative with wedding portraiture as well as posing techniques.

There were also some mouth watering lucky draw prizes on offer, prime among them was a Pre-Wedding Portraiture Shoot by none other than the “Dream Team” themselves, all seven of the Signature Photographers. The lucky winners of this grand prize, Ms Ho Yan and Kian Lik were elated to have won the prize. They were speechless for a moment!
Hosted by Ann Tan and Nigel Skelchy of Just Heavenly, the presence of local celebrities Will Quah and Nell Ng who were special guests, added further gloss to the event which was a first of it’s kind workshop in seeing the coming together of 7 well respected and talented photographers from the wedding industry. With the primary aim of bringing International Standards to Malaysia, setting and maintaining standards of professionalism and generally lifting the profile of the wedding photography industry, the Signature Photographers look well equipped (Most are International Award Winning Photographers) and are looking well on their way to achieving these goals if the very evident togetherness of the group is anything to go by. Seen to be openly providing each other with emotional and moral support by way of hugs and cheers before and after each presentation, the group demonstrated a closeness rarely found in groupings as large as one that contains 7 different individuals.

Consisting of the founders of 7 wedding photography studios, The Signature Photographers are made up of Jim Liaw (Jim Liaw Photography), Patrick Low (Exes Studio), Edmund Tham (Edmund Tham Photography), Zung (The Photoz), Louis Pang (Louis Pang Studio), Jason Victor (Camwork Weddings) and Jenny Sun (Jenny Sun Photography).

The group were quick to point out that the event was organized with the support of various sponsors such as WeddingsByEternal, Pretty in White, Nikon, Photobook, De Rain Atelier, Just Scan, Classic & Vintage, Beauty Haven, WeddingIsle, EventsWizards and many others. According to a spokesperson, “Great Photo, Great Eyes” was to be the first of many more events and activities from the talented group. It was also revealed that the projects that they were looking to embark on does not only include awareness and education, but also charity as all 7 of them revealed that “giving back” was something close to their hearts.

The grand opening of Ever After Wedding

-The Black Parade -
The grand opening of Ever After Wedding,
Malaysia’s leading, trendsetting wedding planner

Petaling Jaya, March 26th 2008. Ever After Wedding, Malaysia’s professional wedding planning and consulting company celebrated its grand opening amidst much pomp and splendour. Strategically located in a highly popular section of Petaling Jaya, Ever After Wedding occupies a spacious corner bungalow lot which houses three main divisions – Wedding Planner (where all your wedding ideas come together), The Bridal Gallery (a showcase of fashion-forward bridal wear) and Chin Photography (a gathering of some of the country’s most talented photographers).

A trendsetting wedding planning company, Ever After Wedding, took a bold step decorating its premises in dramatic black accented with touches of hot pink, regal purple, teal blue and apple green for its grand opening. The interior and exterior of Ever After Wedding was lavishly embellished with ribbons, crystals and attractive paraphernalia according to four wedding themes – “Love Anew”, “L’Amour Est Bleu”, “Indulge In Love” and “Black Romance” – to tie in with the grand theme, “The Black Parade”.

Under the capable hands of expert wedding florist and decorator, sprung a delightful garden of crystals hanging from twigs and branches and a beautiful bridal arch entwined with leaves to blend in with the concept of “Love Anew”. “L’Amour Est Bleu” featured hanging sparkling stones, swirling blue wires and flowers that hinted of a Western influence. Delicate egg shells painted in black and hot pink adorned the table’s centrepiece while jewellery in classic black was used to embellish the theme, “Indulge In Love.” Under the concept, “Black Romance”, guests were greeted by the sight of panel lights swathed in purple organza, ribbon trails and a beautifully decorated wedding cake. Ever After Wedding’s showcase of pre-wedding and actual wedding day videos during the event displayed what their talented team is capable of.

East Chin, manager of Ever After Wedding said, “We would like to thank the management and most importantly our director, Jerad Solomon for having the confidence in us to allow us a free hand in creating “The Black Parade”, a theme that is bold, daring and proves that we are the trendsetters in wedding planning and consultation. Black is the new white, and this is the perfect chance for us to educate our customers on the possibilities of using black for weddings.”

At 5pm, guests strolled in with well wishes and were presented with a goodie bag each. Over 300 people attended the exciting event which created a massive traffic jam as invited guests joined in the festivities while curious onlookers watched from outside. Guests were entertained by a festive lion dance performance before guests of honour, Cleo Tay, ex-television host of 8TV’s Eve’s Diary and current newscaster for Astro AEC, Keith Kee, and Cheng took part in the official ribbon cutting ceremony to declare the place officially open.

In the Entrance, under a beautiful, white canopy lay a sumptuous buffet spread where guests tucked into dinner while indulging in a free flow of wine. The highlight of the evening was a bridal catwalk show featuring an impressive collection from The Bridal Gallery. Six, tall, lanky models sashayed down the 30-foot long, black runway modelling up to 24 bridal creations. Elegant evening dresses and gorgeous wedding gowns in a myriad of colours designed by renowned bridal couturier, provided a feast for the eyes. As a surprise, special guest, Cleo Tay took to the catwalk to model the final design.

Before the night ended, winners of the lucky draw took home prizes sponsored by Hotel Imperial Kuala Lumpur, Prince Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur, Palace of the Golden Horses and Genting Berhad. There were 24 prizes up for grabs including three main prizes. The 3rd prize was a family portrait package redeemable from Ever After Wedding, the 2nd prize, one night’s stay in an executive room at Hotel Imperial Kuala Lumpur and the 1st prize, a ½ day event photography package.
