Pangkor Laut Resort has been chosen among the “Top Ten Romantic Hideaways” in the 50 honeymoon hotspots survey by the upscale British Honeymoon and Romantic Travel magazine. The summer 2001 issue highlighted the romantic tree planting ceremony as “…..a symbol of your love…” Pangkor Laut was selected the top Asian resort, with the other destinations being in Mauritius, Maldives and Seychelles.

In the same issue of the magazine, the bathroom at Pangkor Laut was chosen among the four most romantic bathrooms in the world. The magazine quotes, “In the sea villas at Pangkor Laut, one of those high on stilts above the Straits of Malacca, the bathrooms are surrounded by water…… It is an amazing sensation.”

Pangkor Laut Resort General Manager Mr. Laurent Myter said, “Having been chosen among the top ten romantic hideaways, as well as selected for having one of the top four romantic bathrooms in the world, certainly puts Pangkor Laut Resort on the map as an ideal honeymoon destination.”

There is a single resort on Pangkor Laut, a 300-acre island off the West Coast of Malaysia. The resort encompasses two bays with 126 luxury villas, five restaurants and two lounges as well as extensive recreational facilities. Emerald Bay, often cited by independent travel consultants as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, has been left undeveloped except for comfort stations and rustic dining facilities. Pangkor Laut Resort has also been chosen among the “Top Ten Romantic Hideaways” by Wedding and Home (January 2001) and Escape Routes (November 2000). The Resort has been selected among the top “50 Best Swimming Pools in the World, 2000” by the Independent newspaper. Pangkor Laut was polled the “Number Two Island in the World”, 1999 by UK-based Condé Nast Traveller magazine and has been selected “Best 5-Star Deluxe Resort in Malaysia 1999” by Malaysian publishers World Asia Media Holdings.
